Türkiye's indigenous aviation engine development capabilities come together under one roof

The TF35000 and TS3000 engine projects and materials development work carried out within TEI — with intellectual and industrial property rights belonging to the Presidency of Defence Industries — together with the auxiliary power unit and engine programs carried out within TRMOTOR, will be restructured under TRMOTOR's new title, "TEI TEKNOLOJİ".

A significant reorganization is being implemented to evaluate Türkiye's engineering capacity in aviation engines more effectively, accelerate development processes, and strengthen specialization.

The TF35000 and TS3000 engine projects and materials development work carried out within TEI — with intellectual and industrial property rights belonging to the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) — together with the auxiliary power unit and engine programs carried out within TRMOTOR, will be restructured under TRMOTOR's new title, "TEI TEKNOLOJİ".

Engineering and other technical teams that have so far worked on the TF35000 and TS3000 programs within TEI will also continue their work within TEI TEKNOLOJİ, in order to preserve institutional know-how and project continuity.

Engine development activities will come together at TEI TEKNOLOJİ

Founded in 1985 as a partnership of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), GE Aerospace, the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TSKGV), and the Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK), TEI stands out as one of Türkiye's most established engineering and manufacturing organizations in aviation engines. Continuously developing its production, assembly, test, and engineering infrastructure since its foundation, TEI today ranks among the key suppliers to the world's most widespread civil and military aviation engine programs — including CFM LEAP, GE Aerospace GEnx, and GE9X — and manufactures for more than 50 engine programs. Carrying the production culture and engineering experience gained in international programs into national projects, TEI assumes a critical responsibility in developing and producing the engine technologies needed by the Turkish defence industry.

Established in 2017 to develop indigenous and national solutions in aviation engines and power systems, TRMOTOR has also become one of the key actors in Türkiye's indigenous engine development ecosystem through its work on gas turbine engines and auxiliary power unit systems. With its strong technology infrastructure, skilled workforce, and engineering capabilities, the company has made significant contributions to indigenous engine projects in recent years.

Motor and materials development activities conducted under SSB intellectual and industrial property rights will come together with TRMOTOR's auxiliary power unit and engine programs under the TEI TEKNOLOJİ umbrella. With the new structure, indigenous engine development activities will be carried out within TEI TEKNOLOJİ as a single organizational structure, aiming for more effective use of engineering resources, greater agility in project management, and accelerated development processes.

It will form the backbone of development activities

Programs to be carried out within TEI TEKNOLOJİ will form the backbone of Türkiye's next-generation aviation engine development activities. Under the new organizational model, engineering teams will work toward common technical objectives. Knowledge sharing, project coordination, and development processes will also be managed more effectively within a single structure.

Under the reorganization, the TS1400 and PD170 engine programs will continue to be carried out within TEI. This will ensure uninterrupted production, delivery, platform integration, and response to user needs for those engines. There will also be no change in TEI's existing core areas of activity, including Parts and Module Manufacturing, and Service and Product Support.

The parties have agreed on the smooth and timely transfer of the SSB-led TF35000 and TS3000 programs to TEI TEKNOLOJİ, with continuity of project schedules, technical activities, and existing obligations throughout the transition period as a guiding principle.

Under the new organizational model, TEI will focus on production, delivery, product support, mature engine programs, and international collaborations. TEI TEKNOLOJİ will specialize in indigenous engine development, auxiliary power units, materials development, and advanced R&D activities.

GE Aerospace partnership will continue as before

The reorganization will not affect TEI's existing partnership structure or international activities.

The strategic partnership successfully maintained between TEI and GE Aerospace for 41 years will continue under the same structure.

Accordingly, TEI will continue its production responsibilities in international civil and military engine programs while preserving its strong position in the global supply chain.
