Turbofan Engine

The TF35000 Turbofan Engine is being developed by TEITECH under the auspices of the Presidency of Defence Industries as Türkiye’s national military turbofan engine, designed to deliver the 35,000 lbf of thrust required by the National Combat Aircraft (KAAN). TF35000 is one of Türkiye’s most significant advances in aviation engines.

Designed with the goal of becoming Türkiye’s highest-thrust indigenous and national turbofan engine, TF35000 is being developed to meet the requirements of 5th-generation fighter aircraft.

TF35000 will employ high-temperature-resistant superalloys together with advanced coating and cooling technologies. With its original design, the engine will support KAAN’s 5th-generation requirements while delivering the superior performance and durability needed. TF35000 will produce high thrust with low fuel consumption, enabling long-range missions. An ecosystem is also being established to support the design, manufacturing and testing phases of engine development.

Through this engine, our country will gain the capability to develop an original, high-technology engine for 5th-generation fighter aircraft.

Beyond supporting our nation’s strategy to eliminate foreign dependency in the defence industry, TF35000 will also strengthen Türkiye’s position in the global aviation market.

An Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) is a compact power system with a gas turbine engine that operates independently of the main engines on aircraft. Its primary role is to supply the electrical power, pressurized air (pneumatic power) and, in some cases, hydraulic power required on the ground and in flight. The APU enables avionics, environmental control units and ground support systems to operate when the main engines are not running, and also provides the power needed to start the main engines.

An ATS is a high-pressure-air starter used to start aircraft gas turbine engines. It converts compressed air—typically supplied by the aircraft’s Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) or by ground support units—into mechanical energy through turbine blades, initiating the main engine’s first rotation (spool-up).
